Shooting Other Guns

This weekend I shot both a W3G match and an IPSC match.  I shot both with my Springfield 1911.  We're working up rules for a "Modern" division in W3G.

Anyway, it was quite a change shooting this gun instead of my regular battery of cowboy guns.  I'm not nearly as fast with the slide gun, though just as accurate.

Sure was a neat experience (and a LOT of fun).  I believe that I'll do it again next month.

Just get out and shoot!

I hear ya, pard. I know every time I shoot my 1911 I remember how cool it is. Almost makes me want to start a club that shoots 1900-1930 stuff. A 1911, a Thompson (single-fire only) and a Browning Auto 5. All in a double-breasted, pinstriped suit and a fedora.

I'm with ya, Doc.  We're gearing up to shoot our slide guns and double-action revolvers on the Saturday before next month's Deadwood Boys match.  I pulled the Beretta 92 out of the safe and took it with me Saturday.  It was really fun putting several magazines of ball ammo through it at the knock out plates.  I had forgotten how much fun shooting an auto was until Saturday.  Now, I REALLY can't wait.

I too, like to shoot my 1911's on a regular basis.  I also shoot a Colt Trooper MK-V for fun.

A 1911, Thompson and Browning Auto 5 - in a pin stripe suit with fedora???   :o
Would that be GAS?  Gangsta Action Shooting?   ::)   :D   ;D

Danny,

It may be BCAS (Bonnie & Clyde action shooting)

I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

I like the 1911 too... so elegant... but unfortunately I sold my last one...oh well.  I do have a real favorite in my Glock 21.  Still the fabulous 45acp plus hi-cap mags.  Shoot my buns off.

I also like the long guns.  I love shooting trap with my Remington 11-87 Premier Trap...what a sweet shooter that is and I have a Tikka 12 ga O/U skeet gun...super duper.  I just went out and bought my self a Savage 17 varmint rifle.  Man I am really impressed with that little peashooter.  It is a lot of fun to shoot.  Look out NV varmints Dorado's comin'. :D

Dorado,  that .17 looks like it will be a good gun for the varmits,  I've heard several good reports from the squirrel hunters around here,  seems like any rifle I use anymore has to have a good scope to bring them varmits up close and personal, used to not need one, but time changes everything!
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

Man no kidding.  I can hardly see to the ends of my arms :)  That little Savage has a 3-9 variable scope that works REAL good.  I can hold about a 1/2 inch group at 50 yards and about a 1-1/2 inch group at 100 yards.  Not bad for a little bullet you can hardly see.  Nasty little sucker too.  Put a teeny little hole in the front of a 3/4 pine board at 100 yards and about 1-1/2 exit "wound" in the back.

Here's a pic.

Doc:
I will be gettin' in less "other" shootin' for awhile.  Our ARNG/ANG Marksmanship Program took a few cuts.  No CNGB this year.  Maybe WPW will get cancellled too.  But there should be some MAC Regionals out there & some in-state TAG matches.
Reckon I'll have to keep shootin' my own Para Ord P-14 some.
