Both the 51 and 61 are Very Cool!  I love the Navy grips, that's why I got Navy grips on both my 4.75" and 7.5" 1872 Open Tops.  Almost all early 1871 Open Tops were Navy grip.

Well it has been 17 months since I first posted this gun and thought I'd give an update.  I have various other guns that need to get shot (I only shoot at matches), but this pair of conversions has been my main pair.  I have shot them in approximately 34 matches.  Six clean, 5 one-miss.  A few train wrecks, hehe.  A lot of that was gunfighter style and I don't shoot that clean as often.  A lot of BP earlier but lately mostly smokeless as my time available for reloading and cleaning has become miniscule.  At least I've been able to shoot a lot.  The guns have both been just fine.  The '51 with the replacement barrel has a split washer down the arbor hole, but the new '61 has not needed anything.  Maybe Uberti is getting better with the arbor fit?

Here are a couple pics of the guns on loading tables.  The first one is with my '97-vintage .357 carbine when I want to shoot the same ammo in all three cartridge guns (which I haven't done much for years, but yeah it is convenient!).  The next is with a 32-20 rifle, which I would usually use for BP but not this pic because I don't shoot BP in the '97.  A friend made me some new gun bucket holsters and he made sure the '61 would fit.  I don't have any pics of that yet but will get some.

Nice lookin pieces Abilene-just as they were 17 months ago. Like the grips-still hope to add the same style/color to my Open Top, maybe to my Richard II. To many projects!

Couldn't some one good with the grinder/file modify the barrel to remove the bump on the bottom of the barrel? Like 1861 Colt conversions I've seen somewhere in books?
