The cold reality of the Indian Wars as opposed to the malarkey most believe or see on the Silver Screen. I have read a few of Michno's books and am in awe of not only his incredible research, but also his brutally honest conclusions. Prepare to be enlightened:

We must be vewwy quiet.  Not only are we hunting wabbits, but saying truths that are so politically incorrect that the thought police will have us for dinner.

I was not familiar with Gregory Michno's books. I've now added them to my Amazon "need to buy list." Interesting article, thanks for sharing!

Good article, terrible web site.
My only quibble is
QuoteWhich were the most and least effective of the 10 Indian-fighting cavalry regiments in the West—effectiveness equating to numbers of fights and casualties inflicted?
I feel that is a false dichotomy.  The SAC had zero fights and inflicted zero casualties during the Cold War, but was probably the most effective fighting force in the history of mankind.  Sometimes, effectiveness means not having to fight.
