I need a pattern for a Ranger type belt, at least thats what I think it is called. It would be the one with the tapered billet. Any help.

The Ranger style does not taper, it has the sewn on billets for buckling up.  The tapered belts are, I think, an earlier design for obtaining wide belts while using smaller buckles.  Almost as good as a book is the patterns by Ghormley, available through Tandy.  He includes patterns for three style pistol belts in two widths each.  There are other techniques for doing most of what he shows but his plans are as good as I know of for starting out.  There are a couple of books out there that might help with belt making in general but are not aimed at the shooters market.  An unlined tapered belt without bullet loops is about the easiest first project I can immagine, mostly hole punching and knife work with no sewing required.
