I'm interested to know what the experience is with any currently available Blakeslee boxes. The older comments in other threads were not good regarding the imported ones Blockade Runner had 10 years ago. Their site has them listed currently, and they say made in USA. Does anyone have experience with the current ones from Blockade Runner or anyone else? Most of the links in the older threads are dead, or dont show up on the companies web sites.

Can anyone tell me the length of the Blakeslee boxes, specifically the internal dimensions of length of the tubes, and the diameter of the holes in the wood block?

This is just a quick reply to your questions about hole sizes. (Not in anyway trying to be smart with this response but I also have looked at this question and had to stop 'at rolling these round tubes' of galvanized sheet steel and soldering them.)

It would depend on what caliber your Spencer fires.  The rim size would determines steel tube diameter and the OAL of the seven loaded cartridges would determine the length of that tube.  Using your cartridges and measuring rim diameter then rolling out the best tubing you can make will determine the final hole you would have to drill.  Also how many tubes your Blakeslee will carry 6, 10 or 13 will determine overall need for wood form.  Laying out seven cartridges (plus some) should give you length needed.

I just ended up with the Spencer shoulder pouch/cartridge box.

Editted: Here is a 10 hole that lists the overall sizes as a maybe a guide.  https://jamesdjulia.com/item/lot-2151-civil-war-blakeslee-quick-loader-cartridge-box-for-spencer-carbine-46208/

If you are using your Spencer for reenacting with blanks then paper tubes that are disposable are better.  If you are shooting a 56-50 live you might want to try The Alamo gun shop in NY.  He use to sell them and they were of high quality.

Armi Sport/Chiappa used to sell them to accompany their Spencer rifles.

Malamute,  I've had the Blockade Runner box for 7 years and use it a lot. No issues with it and I think it's a bargain for $99.   Jw
