Was at the local Green Grocer today and passed by the magazine rack.  Saw a fantastic "Special Addition" with a really HUGE logo "Old West" guns.  Printed up to look like a "Special Edition" of GOTOW.  But ...... it AIN'T.  Not even close.  Unfortunately I picked it up without a second thought.  10% interesting - - - 90% junque.  Be Careful Out There

Major 2

if you photo the cover I'll post it

I subscribe to GOTOW , haven't seen any Special Edition  :-\

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm guessing Cofffinmaker might be complaining that only 10% of the guns in it were short barrels and the other 90% were long barrels.   ;D

I think I'm Wounded   ;D   Why would one even think I might/would/could/may complain because the content of some rip-off rag only sported 10% SHORT barrel guns.  Humpff!!

Major 2   :D  A fresh new Glossy of the offending Rag is in-route!!  A goodly number of the stuff is from the 1950s.

It isn't that one shouldn't buy and peruse the contents.  Just don't rush to snap it up thinking it's a really big deal from GOTOW.  'Cause it AIN't.

Major 2

It is not the latest issue I received a few weeks ago ????

Don't know ,   .... a note came in the mail that my subscription was expiring , so I resubscribed last week  .... We see if I get this copy   ???

>:(  Allow me to reiterate.  This "Special Edition" is NOT anything from Guns Of The Old West.  It is from an entirely different publication.  It's called Hokus Phokus.  It is NOT what it seams.

???  Let us understand.  Plain talk here.  The Cover Graphics of this edition from GUNS magazine appear to be a deliberate attempt to confuse when viewed at first glance on the News Stand.  Deliberately intended to draw GOTOW readers to the "Special Edition" before actually studying the Cover/Contents.  Often, in courts, that is called "Bate and Switch"

I don't begin to suggest boycotting.  There is some good stuff between the covers.  My intent was to inform that it is not a product of GOTOW.  I've enjoyed a bunch of the content.

I am also not a real Die Hard proponent of Dennis Adler.  Met him, didn't really like him.  BUT!!!  Dennis Adler is the primary reason we again HAVE a GOTOW.  Let us not be real quick to put him down.  Dennis is also partially responsible for Pietta bringing out the Capt. Schaeffer replicant.  MY favorite .36 Navy Cap Gun.

Major 2

Adler did suggest to Pietta to produce the Capt. Schaeffer Alexandro Pietta wrote that himself.
And I own one of his Table Top books " Metallic Cartridge Conversions "

My opinion however, stims from a first time impression & chance meeting at Shot 07 , where here was book signing his newest at the time picture book "Winchester Shotguns"
He had an elitist attitude I found off putting ...so full of himself,
At the same show the late R. Lee Ermey was ingratiating

Just a personal observation worth no more than its cost  ;D

I've subscribed to Guns for several years and I enjoy it. Guns covers Cowboy guns (old and new), classic guns, Black guns and everything in between, but GOTOW it ain't.

Clearly a case of not really reading the cover, looks like a copy of Guns doing an edition on Old West guns.

No different than going to the grocery store, buying a case of root beer and then ranting when you get home.

Wife did that once, came home with a package of cheese, came home with low fats Cheddar Cheese.  I refused to eat it and she sent it home with her fat daughter who will eat about anything.  The fat people in this house are more picky.
