I had a BP Navy revolver that I put together from a kit in 1977. It was lost during a PCS in 1989.  I just bought a replacement  ;D Uberti 1875 Outlaw in .45LC.

The Pathfinder

First single action of any kind, not counting cap pistols, was an EMF 1851 Navy, bought back when I turned 21. Followed almost immediately by an Iver Johnson Cattleman in 45. First real Colt was a 125th Anniversary model that someone had used, but had one of the sweetest actions and was deadly accurate to boot. Sadly that turned into a washer/dryer set for the wife about the time the second daughter showed up and on an sergeant's pay we couldn't afford to keep buying Pampers and decided to go the wash your own bit. Almost 40 years later I still regret that one getting away. Still gag at the smell of used diapers too.

HeckThomas

TV westerns & my dad who grew up in Oklahoma.  He was a western history buff and liked cap & ball revolvers.  He passed away when I was young but the seed was planted.  Talked Mom into letting me get a Navy Arms 1861 Navy, very nice and super accurate.  Learned to shoot with that beauty, probably because you took your time!  Turned 21 and got a Ruger NM Blackhawk 45 Colt x 4-3/4" and learned to reload with that. Bought the first 3rd Gen SAA that hit Kansas City in the '70's a B/CC 45 Colt x 7-1/2".  Still have the Navy and the SAA, and a few more...wink, wink!

Colt SAA, 5 1/2, .45, Artillery.  Dated 1890 if I recall correctly.  Wish I had it today!

Major 2

Stumbled on to this thread...so I decided to play

First I came to SAA's in around about way...

From the late 70's actually the Bi Centennial , I got involved in Civil War Reenacting, ( always had a fascination )
But as I evolved in reenacting , I being a Film/stage Prop master.... and also set designer .
The plethora of CW era Films in the 80's and 90's found me Employed in my passion   ;D

I also collected original Colt 1860's & 1951's  ever a Bridesburg contract 1863 rifle.
Flash forward ...It's 1993, I am hired on " Geronimo " An American Legend.

My First SAA then  ( aside from the Mattel's as kid ) was one of several ASM's  a goodly number (18 in fact) were purchased for production.... below is the one I purchased after the Shoot wrapped....

It was a beauty, in fit & function...there were choices this was mine in 44/40 ( because I had a Henry in the same )

still sorry I allowed myself to be talked out of it.... :(

when planets align...do the deal !

My first was a Colt Scout in early '64. Don't remember what happened to it.
My second was a Single-Six. I got it in the early '70's, the same time I was reading Ed McGivern's book. I don't know how many thousands of CB Longs I fired at a Pepsi can at 7 yards fanning the Ruger. I got to the point where I put a cylinder full in that can. That was the point at which I quit fanning the Ruger. Sold that one too.
Then I bought some more Rugers, some 1st Gen Colt's, a New Frontier, a Sheriff's model, a USPF, USFA Flat Top Target, a USFA Cowboy and an EMF Hartford. The Colt's are all gone.

I almost forgot: a 2nd Gen Colt 1851 Navy and a pair of 1860's, not Colt's.

Texas John Ringo

1st single action was a Colt Frontier Scout .22 nickel plated with .22 mag cylinder sometime around 1963 or 64, before I was 21. Next was 1st gen Single Action Army .45 w/5 1/2' barrel serial number was 2nd number in the 1926 mfg range. Gave $125.00 for it about 1974 maybe, traded it for a Colt Python in 1979. A whole more since. Have 6 Colt Single Action Army's, 2 Colt New Frontier .22's, and 5 2nd gen Colt Cap and Ball revolvers now.
