Bullets for Pedersoli Rolling Block

Howdy folks,
I purchased a Pedersoli Rolling Block Target rifle (45-70; 1/18" twist) yesterday and it should be here in a week or so.
I'm looking for some wisdom from RB owners as to their favorite bullets to use in them for target shooting.
I have quite a bit of 45-70 ammo I bought for my Sharps rifles, original Trapdoors and my '86; everything from 350gr to 545gr both smokeless and BP.
Is there a 'sweet spot' for bullet weight for the Rolling Block?

The actions themselves don't determine how well this or that load perform It is the barrel. I would start with the bullets and loads you used with the other rifles you had. Pedersoli's have pretty good barrels.

In my Pedersoli SHARPS; I know an apple, not an orange, the 405 gr. Lyman 457193 bullet works well as a short/mid-range bullet. My best longer range bullet is the 500 grain RCBS-500-BPCR. I tried the 458125 bore riding bullet but there was a mismatch in dimensions and I couldn't load them into even a one-shot-dirty throat. They worked well if they could be chambered. Other moulds and other chambers might make a great deal of difference.

No 458125s in pedersoli's. I have the problem described in both my sharps and rolloing block from them. To make them work I gotta load 60gr and seat the bullet extra deep. Thats sissy stuff lol.

I hesitate to give a firm opinion on the 457125 as I have heard that nose dimensions have varied. Probably in an effort to solve the noted problem. Try a sample pack before investing in a mould, or try another mould or mould maker. The long pointy Lyman 457658 bullet is a useless POS. (IMveryHO)
