Did anybody here get this? I tried for $1,500. I didn't expect to get it but I did expect to lose but by a lot more. I think the spelling "U.S. F.A." made it not show up on the most common search, "USFA".

Looks like a fun one!  I didn't get it...

When researching this I found an old post here where GaryG said maybe less than 5 Patriot models went out the door. I'm curious, did Colt actually ever produce the SAA in  this caliber, .30 carbine?

Coffinmaker

I'm not the final word.  Far from it.  However, I can't remember Colt actually manufacturing an SA in .30 Carbine.  Ruger did.  I had a Ruger .30 Carbine.  I considered it the most abusive hand gun I ever fired.  LOUD doesn't begin to describe it.  The muzzle blast from that gun ........ HURT.  I don't own it any more.  I wouldn't own another.  I also owned a TC Contender barrel in .30 Carbine.  I GAVE it away.

Colt did make a few, or at least 1, there was one on GB  awhile back for huge $

LonesomePigeon

markg44, do you recall if it was a 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation Colt?

Pettifogger

If you read the so-called documentation on the gun from Gun Broker it says the gun left the factory as a 4 3/4" .357 Magnum.  I have never seen any reference to Colt offering a .30.  The date on the second letter is over a year after the gun was originally shipped.  Something fishy.

Major 2

It was a 3rd. Gen.

I would have bet money ( prolly not ) but anyway  ::) , Colt didn't make one , still the Gun Broker link I gave shows one....

shows to go ya...I side with Larson ... Som Ting Wong

Since I have had the opportunity to fondle and caress a real honest to goodness Single Action .30 Carbine, and a TC contender also in that marvelous caliber, I wouldn't consider the cost of a letter from Colt worthwhile.

I do suppose, loaded with 2f it could be manageable, maybe even ..... fun.  However on the remote possibility I might accidentally wind up with a factory .30 Carbine round innit.  NO FRIGGING WAY!!

Bite me, kick me, scratch me, make me write a hot check but I ain't shooting a .30 Carbine again  :'(

A friend of mine has a Ruger .30, He affirms it's about the loudest gun he's fired. He was determined to get a deer with it, finally got a shot this year, and was successful. I don't know what velocity it gives, but I suspect a heavy .357 load shouldn't be at any disadvantage.

Here is another Patriot model that has come up on gunbroker. The buy it now price is $2,200. At first I thought it must be the same one being sold at a profit but I compared pics and it's a different one. I wonder how many of these were actually made?

I don't believe that one is actually  a Patriot model.

LonesomePigeon

Markg44, you may be right. It's in "U.S. 30 calibre carbine" but it does not have the lanyard loop. Serial # is 22769.

Some years back out here in West Texas my LGS had a .30 Carbine and a Henry Nettleton.  I bought the Nettleton but having a little knowledge of the .30 Carbine I let someone else own it.  I am not sure if it was a Patriot though.
