I have a 3 die set of RCBS,dies for 45/60,,a friend has a 73 trap door,,in 45/70,,what changes would I need to make (adjust) on my di
es to load some rounds for him ?? I don't own a weapon for either ,,,picked-up the 45/60 dies with some other stuff at a local sale.

It is possible w/ these dies????

I've owned rifles in .45-70, .45-90 but now only .45-60. I'm thinking that you could use the expander and seater of the shorter die set with no problems, just back them out as you're only working the mouth of the case, but don't know about the sizer die. I don't think that you would resize the case completely to the base. Whether this would be a problem or not depends on how hot of a load he's building and how loose/tight his rifles chamber is. If he's loading light loads and the chamber is tight using the shorter die would be like neck sizing and might work. He won't be able to make them too hot for a trapdoor anyway. Give it a try. Good luck.

Thank's ,B.E.,,,I think just neck size,,since he will be the only one to shoot them. Just have to work out the crimp setting.

My friend has only been shooting factory loads,,,,he don't reload.
