Hello, let me apologize in advance for this post if t should have been placed in a different area. I have a 1860 Spencer rifle with what seems to be a relatively low serial number. The serial number is 2850 and I was hoping to learn what you may have on file for the number or series. I also want to say I am very excited to find all the information on your site!

Hi abqblue,

I have added your name to our membership list.  Thanks for joining SSS ;D ;D ;D

I checked on your Spencer serial #.  Your Spencer Rifle, serial # 2850, WAS MOST PROBABLY issued to the 5th Independent Company of the Ohio Volunteer Sharpshooters on August 16, 1863.

Please take the time to post photos of your Spencer Rifle, or if need be, send them to me and I will post them for you.

Here are some pics of the Spencer.  I am away from home so I am posting those that I had with me. Please take notice of brass tacks in stock. The rifle was purchased by my grandfather in Montana many years ago and I believe they may indicate Native American ownership at one time. If you have input about this your thoughts would be appreciated.
