I made a you tube video of my adventures with a 50-70 conversion. I used APP for the most part for propellant because I'm low on black, but it worked well. If you are interested in these conversions give it a look.  Jw

Thoroughly enjoyed your video! Do another when you get some BP loads.

Four of my Shilohs are .50s - two percussion and two 50-70s. A pair each of carbines and Military Rifles. My 'go to' rifle is my 50-70 carbine. Off hand it hits 28 oz. tomato cans at 100m with 100% BP and the Lyman 515141.

I have great confidence in that little carbine, although it hasn't taken any game for me as yet. It's big brother Military Rifle has taken two LARGE black bears and a 6 point Mule Deer. I was carrying the carbine when my wife and I came face to face with a charging moose in hot pursuit of our dogs and another time when a black bear did the same.

Both critters got well within 15 yds of us before they changed direction, my carbine cocked and aimed. I recall being dead calm during the incidents, but talking about it later I got a bit of a rush!

The Colts and Winchesters may have "won the west", but I'll take my Sharps!
