Hi

I looked, but didn't find.  When fitting a 3/8 inch dovetail sight to a lever gun barrel, do you commonly sand down the bottom of the sight, like on a pistol, or use a triangle file on the side of the sight itself?

Thanks

Either or both depending how far off the sight is from the dovetail.  The sights and dovetail are a "nominal" 3/8".  Their actual measurements vary a lot.

Also, Gun site dovetails are normally 60 degrees.  Most triangular files aren't.  Go very carefully.

Thank you both very much Gentlemen.  I have Brownell's dovetail files that have two smooth sides.  This sight is taking three times as long as the Ruger Mark II after market sight I put on it.

Yep, I know about that.  I got a sight specifically designed to fit a Uberti 66.  It only took about 45 minutes with a file to make it fit.
