Ol' Gabe;  yep, the barcode would be for a number (Zip Code) reader.  They've been able to do that to letters for over 15 years that I know of, but they've been working hard to get a machine that will read and sort magazines that doesn't rip off the cover and generally mangle the piece.  This is all done for the sake of speed (and $$$ - it's called efficiancy:  and they also don't have to hire as many "worker bees")  for instance, a human can sort 35-45 letters (using the Zip Code) per minute.  The machines can sort something like 55 per SECOND!

Mine arrived yesterday afternoon, cover intact, but the usual well-worn and thumbed look to the pages.  I think the Postal Department enjoys reading them.

I appreciate the compliments, if anyone is interested I am going to bring the painting to the congress meeting so you can see it up close if you would like to.

I think he's going to protect it with slobber resistant non-period correct vinyl.   Maybe even (horrors) a Naugey hide wrapper.   ;D

Well,
So far I've received the Rundown (Cowboy Mounted Shooting rag) yesterday, the Cowboy Chronicle (SASS rag) today, but evidently it's landed here (the Shootist) in good old Indiana so I hope it gets here soon......

Dr. Bob

OCB,

Great cover.  Glad that I'm not down below that warrior! ;D

OTB,

Thanks for putting the conflict between the indigenous population and the US government and people into a long term prospective.

These are the things that set the Shootist above the other publications!!

LG,

Great issue.  Keep them coming.

Thank you Dr. Bob, I wanted to pen something to go along with Ottawa's cover, although I will admit that the information I put in the article was STILL on the light side.......

I've got a question, pards.
Got my Shootist and in the process of reading it cover-to-cover, I ran across the results of the National Shoot.

I guess I'm just thick, but I can't make heads or tails out of the scores/results. They're not in alphabetical order and the classes are not all ranked by time. There's a spot or two where multiple shooters have exactly the same time (down to the hundredth) and high scores mixed in with apparent low scores.

Can somebody help this poor soul understand the situation? I'm confused.
Much obliged.

Lone Gunman

While I distinctly remember seeing those odd scores earlier, I also sort of remember fixing the problem. It's been a few months since I put that part of the Sept/Oct issue together. Give me a few days to come up with some lame excuse how this happened  8)

In the mean time you can review the REAL scores at:

I will endeavor to be more "Editorly" in the future  :-[
