Spencer in an old TV Show?

Let's see if anyone else has this "memory".  I have to put the word "memory" in quotes because I could be way off base.  Back in the 1980's, I used to watch a TV show called "Simon & Simon" with Gerald McRaney and Jameson Parker (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_%26_Simon).  I seem to remember an episode that used a Spencer carbine, but my memory is very hazy.  In my memory, the plot centered around a bad guy who had a bunch of antique guns, including a Spencer carbine that was damaged and couldn't fire.  The bad guy was somehow holding Gerald McRaney's character against his will (maybe in a mansion or something?).  McRaney's character had access to the Spencer and there is a scene near the end where he enters a room armed with it and uses it to force the bad guy to let him go (or maybe to capture him?).  The bad guy reminds McRaney that the Spencer can't fire, whereupon McRaney shoots it into a nearby desk chair and announces that he fixed it.  McRaney wins the day.

I've tried online searches to try to locate reference to that episode, but I can't find anything.  As I said, my memory is pretty hazy on this (it was probably "Magnum P.I.", someone else who had the gun and it was a modern pistol).

This isn't a big issue, of course, but it kind of bugs me that I can't remember more.  Does anyone else recall such an episode?  It would be fun to watch it again...

I don't recall the episode but it puts me in mind of a similar plot in Bonanza where the bad guys were holding the Cartwrights hostage at their ranch. Ben had an old flintlock pistol in his desk but the the desperadoes found it they figured it couldn't shoot.  Ben took a cartridge and pried the bullet out and using it and the powder loaded and primed the piece, which he used to free them.  I have also looked for that episode but have never sen it again.

If you check out John Wayne's 1969 The Undefeated, a Spencer carbine shows up in the hands of one of the actresses. I think its after the big fight scene.
