Been looking at getting a great western 2. I've heard a lot of good things about them. Would like to know if they would be good  to go out of the box or should they have an action job. Thinking about trying my hand at cowboy fast draw. This would be the primary use for them.

The Great Western II is probably the best "Value for Dollar" in a CAS Single Action to day.  The are very useable out of the box as long as a
few checks are made.  First Things first, take it apart and check the Bolt fit to the Cylinder Notches.  Check the timing.

If your primary use is going to be "fast Draw" your gun will probably benefit from a complete action job.  Fast Draw can be very stressful
on the lock works.

You'll also need a bolt block and an action stop for fast draw (with special timing).

Thanks for the replys.  I ordered one and got it a few days ago. It shoots A Good group a few inches low but the windage is pretty much on. The timing is a little off, the bolt is coming up just outside the lead and leaving a ping mark. The last three guns I have bought have all been like this including a new colt. The trigger pull weighs in at 3.5 pounds a little heavy for me, but it breaks clean.  I'll be sending it out to have it tuned up. Overall I'm satisfied and I do believe its a better value for dollar. Again thanks for the replys.

Im curious where you got it from?

Cody Bill

I bought it straight from emf

Galloway

Ah ok. Are they pretty freindly with local dealers? I've wanted one for years have never found one.

I called emf and bought the gun straight from them. There's no emf dealers in my state, and they don't make you go through a dealer like some importers do. They ship it to an ffl holder. I didn't have any problems, and emf seems like a good company to do business with.
