This is an early Second Gen. Colt ....just prior to the Black Box Series introduction about 1977-8
Complete with the Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works box, as sent to Hartford for approval.

Also a  1923 Drop Tube Bicycle ( Smithsonian ) and period Trike Combination flier
when planets align...do the deal !

And mine, a Second Gen. .... purchased NIB  May 13, 1978  for the then lofty price of $273.00 ....Hialeah Gun Shop

Here presented 38 years , two broken bolt springs ( the last one in 2006 ) , 1 R&D Cylinder (2002)  and countless shots fired later.

That's a neat Iver Johnson/Colt Army. What markings does it have? Any Italian proofs?

The markings are the Address Sam L Colt Address line
44 on the TG  the matching numbers on all parts even the grip.

These were the finished guns made at Iver Johnson  Fitchburg, Massachusetts these with sent to Colt inspected and
re-boxed in the Black boxes.... what is really rare is the Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Box .
No Italian proofs....

Thanks for sharing. So it does not say COLT'S PATENT on the side of the frame? Would this mean that IJ(or the Italians) stamped the barrels but the frames were stamped by Colt after inspection?

Second Gen will have the frame marked Colt' s patent

The prototype Iver's will not  unless the were shipped to Colt to stamp
when planets align...do the deal !

A very nice Early Second Edition (Book Parlance) you have there Sir.  Really nice gun.

Real nice reference Bicycle and Tryke too.  However:
