Gentlemen,
I'm looking at a Krag for a friend of mine who's looking to get involved with us.  I can probably get this one for around $700.  It's got a pretty nice bore and it's complete.  It's been so long since I bought a Krag I'm not up on the prices.  (Mine cost me $275 back in the day, and it's much nicer than this one.)  Let me know what you think.

By the way, I'm pretty certain it's a local VFW gun.  That aluminum tag around the barrel has a "13" on it.

$700 in todays market for an uncut M1898 with a decent barrel is a Very Good Price.  I'd get it.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

That's sort of what I thought.  I hope he decides he wants it, because I'd like to see it after I've given it a thorough cleaning!  (Besides, Krags are ALWAYS cool!)

There is a rifle here locally, it is pretty nice and they want $1200.  So $700 is probably a decent price for the one you are scoping out for your friend.

This one will clean up to a lot prettier than it is now.  It looks about perfect for what we do;  A great shooter, but not so pristine you worry about a few dings here and there.

At the risk of being branded a heretic.  If the rifle absolutely won't shoot after slugging using oversized bullets that actually fit the bore etc.  DCM has new repro replacement barrels for not a whole lot of bucks.
