Many of you shot  at the Ackley range during the National shoot. Remember the  transportation wagon pulled by a John Deere tractor. The gentleman that drove for us many years was my Dad. He passed away early yesterday morning at the age of 91 years, 11monthes and 14 days. He however never shot cowboy guns but talked often about the great folks that attended those shoots. I am going to miss my Dad but life goes on.  He had been in a care center for the past 2 years, but knew all of us and joked with me until his last breath. He was not sick, just aged and young at heart. He waited until his great-granddaughter was born(May 17th) and a visit from his son. Then his journey was over.

Thanks,
Kayleen Best-Groninga

Kayleen, So sorry to learn of your loss.  Never got to meet your father, but sounds like the type that I would have enjoyed. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my Dad. Wish you the best. Tj

Kayleen, I remember your Dad well. I'm sorry for your loss. I often think of the fine times we had at the Prairie Fire Range with fond memories. Those were some of the best times I have ever had in NCOWS.

Sorry to hear of your loss Kayleen, I too have many very fond memories of
the Prarie Fire Range and the great times we had. Man did learn a lot about
shooting and reloading from the great friends up there.
