Because they carry a Belgium proof house Smokeless proofed stamp, they make one Hell of a Conversion candidate. Much better than any Pietta or Uberti made.

Mine carries a 45 S&W cylinder. With a tight bore they are very accurate. My bore slugs out at .449". Conversion cylinder throats are .450".

Long Johns Wolf

As Lefty Dudes says: THE ideal base C&B revolver for a conversion.
I am shooting 98 % smokeless under 200 grainers in .44 Colt cal. (inside lubed) through my Centaure conversions.

I have your pistols brother in the shop right now. It has timing issues and a loose arbor. Serial number 9187 and is EXACTLY the same in all respects to yours. I should be done with it tomorrow to ship back to it's owner (unless he wants me to restore the screw heads and reblue them).

I just noticed that the sight on this pistol here has a more SAA like profile to it than yours does.

What's this about Centaure's being proofed for smokeless? For the record I am NOT thinking of shooting smokeless in my Centaure. The reason I ask is because my Centaure came to me with a rusty cylinder and there are two significant pits in the chamber walls. I currently consider this cylinder unsafe but if it's made of super strong steel maybe it is safe for black powder. Maybe the cylinder can be tested professionally? I don't know if that's even possible or what the cost might be? If there's a good chance it's still sound it might be worth testing since spare Centaure cylinders are not easy to find.

Lefty Dude

The Centaure's  all have a Belgium proof smokeless mark on the piece. This is not to say use smokeless in the C&B Cylinder. The Proof indicates the steel is the same as used in Smokeless Fire Arms. And has been tested under Smokeless standards at the time they were made.

The pistol in this post now carries a Pietta cylinder. I fitted a Pietta to this unfired piece because it had excessive cylinder end gap from the factory.
