Greetings Folks,

Been on the forum in other parts but first time here in the Colt world. Not a single action, but a real Colt story.
For a while now been looking for a ccw revolver as I finally decided my Ruger Vaquero was just not going to
work as just a little on the big side.  Sorta promised myself a Colt if i could find one, figured it would be a Cobra
or Detective Special even though I am not a real fan of 2" barrels.  Well low and behold at a recent show I came
across an old Police Positive in .38 special, with a 4" barrel.  While the finish shows the age of the revolver, there is no pitts -
just what I think is called flecking, and the barrel bore and chambers look new.  The price was just to good to pass up
so the old girl came home with me.  My Wife is wanting to learn to shoot and after trying endless different revolvers
the last couple months (told her to think of it like trying on shoes for fit!!) this one fits her hand like it was made
custom for it!  Got a chance to try out a few rounds through it couple days ago.  With the standard loads this
revolver needs to be fed it is an excellent shooter!  From my humble view, there ain't nothing made today that is
in the same league with these old revolvers for fit and finish.

Again, sorry folks for it not being a SAA but it is a Real Colt and an old one at that!!  Here are couple of pics
of the .38 special Colt laying on my Colt t-shirt.

Cool beans! (pun intended  :) )

Some day I will have to get a Cobra to add to my snake collection (Diamondback, King Cobra, Python, Anaconda).

Just FYI, back in the late 60's there was a top level high school pole vaulter in Texas named Pinto Beene.  Not a nickname!

You just can't beat the old Colt and S&W revolvers for fit and finish.  They are to be treasured.

Back in the seventies, when I had a break in military service, I scored a nice job in Law Enforcement.  A officer who was retiring from the
PD I was working for sold me his Python for what he had paid for it new, less 10% for "holster wear."  Before I got it, had been fired for
yearly qualification.  Less than 500 rounds.  4 inch barrel, Hogue grips.

When I went back on active duty with the military, I sold it to another newbie, for what I paid for it.  I think it was something less than 600 bucks.  Where can I find a lightly used, 4 inch Python, for slightly less than 600 bucks now??  There was a time when Colt built the
Rolls Royce of Revolvers.  What a shame they are today.
