Does anyone have any first hand experience, or opinions, on the Navy Arms version of the Win/Miroku 1873 rifle?

Steve S.

Yes, I own a .45 Colt 24" barrel - absolutely gorgeous rifle. I had the intention of deer hunting with it but I would just always be too worried about dinging the thing - took it out twice this past season and all I did is worry about hurting it. So I purchased Grade I "Plain Jane" model in the same configuration (in fact, just arrived today) and I have my Turnbull high grade on consignment at my local LGS. Again, simply beautiful wood, fit, finish. CC, etc - too much for me to hunt with. BTW, shot 2" groups at 50 with 250 lead, 8 grains Unique. Beautiful thing - lots of worry (for me anyway). Good Shooting!

Steve,
On the long shot that you live in Florida, I'd be interested in seeing your Turnbull, and possibly making an  offer for a trade. I have a Weatherby Mrk V Deluxe, with scope, in 30-06, like new with pretty wood, that I think would be a fair exchange.

Larry, I do not live in Florida but my son does (Jacksonville Naval Air Station) - beautiful state - sorry. Thanks.

Beautiful wood, beautiful CCH by Turnbull, and they come with a factory installed short stroke.  They have a new finish they call French Grey.  I think it is supposed to be more durable that the CCH but it isn't nearly as pretty.

Beautiful guns. Have they changed the hammer? Maybe it's an optical illusion but the ones in that photo look to be sticking up too straight. I hadn't noticed that before on others I've seen.

They are "WInchester" 73s that are refinished.  Same parts and hammers.  (Except for the short stroke.)
