Actually, I use a 200 gr. Conical bullet from my Lee Mold. They drop from the mold at .451". They are used in my 1860 Thuer 45 conversion.

Lefty

How's that workin' for ya?

A real fun shooter, Gary.

I like your Rat Rod 51. I have a CVS 61 kit gun that It was given to me in the box, started but never completed. 35 or 40 Years old. I finished the piece only to find the Cylinder was 3/16" to short. I happened to have an old Pietta Cylinder that was a drop-in, hard to believe. I installed new tresso nipples and they were to short. I shimmed them with 22 ga. copper wire from the center conductor of RG-59 coax cable. The piece fires and functions fine.

This piece would be a fine conversion platform to 38 Colt.

Yep; I know where you are.

This next June I have a Granddaughter graduation to attend in Flower Mound, Metroplex area. I just might bring the piece with me, come see ya, and see if it is worth doing. I believe ASM made the Kits for CVA at that time period.

You know me, I have some weird taste for conversions.

Professor Marvel

I have given up trying to find the Cowboy Special brass, and just ordered a couple hundred Schofields for smokeyless loads. It will make it easier for my pathetic grey cells to determine what I have on hand, and makes it a little harder to double charge.

BTW grafs is having a sale on BP and foreign smokeyless....

Ima Diehard.  New Alias.  NOT!!  But ........
Hey Dragoon!!  Tried it.  Not for serious, just curious.  bullet stuck inna barrel.  So I tried my "special gallery load."  454 Round ball.  Same result.  Bullet stuck inna barrel.  Although, I actually got one to dribble out the end of one of my Snubbie barrels.  That was cute.  But:

I really really like the Cowboy 45 Special case.  Makes a dandy vehicle for reduced Smokeless loads with light bullets.  Using Tightgroup
powder, nice manly "bang" when ya set em off.  Where the C45S really shines, is with a case full of 2 or 3F APP and a light bullet.  Lots and lots of smoke and really manageable recoil.   I've got a pile of C45S cases.  No, none for sale.  However:
I make my own out of 45 Colt cases, and 45 Schofield cases.  I have a couple of rifles that need a little help with their head space and the
case rim of the 45 Schofield serves nicely, thank you.
