Howdee Two Flints, et al,

I know this is Blasphemy, but I do not own the Spencer book......
I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me date my shotgun.

I have an original Spencer repeating shotgun - NOT a Bannermann.
It has what I believe is a full choke, and I know for sure it is Damascus barrelled.
The top of the bbl is stamped "SPENCER ARMS CO WINDSOR CT U S A".
It is s/n 656.

IIRC these trombone or pump actions were patented 1882, but can someone please help with the date of manufacture based on the s/n?

Thanks in advance. :D

Gunner,

According to the Marcot book, "1,100 early production Spencer Shotguns were made in Windsor in 1884 and 1885."

The Spencer Shotgun Company produced between five and ten shotguns per day . . . Spencer Shotgun, serial #369 was purchased sometime in 1884.
