I have mentioned a recent problem in the monthly coffee thread in Tall Tales, so I'll let everyone know whats going on.

Early this year I started having some acid reflux and it has been getting worse, about 6 weeks ago I had to get meds for it, wasn't working well, things kept getting worse and I knew what the problem was, anyway last friday I had to make a 4 am trip to the ER for added meds including hydrocodone for very severe pain in the chest and we knew it wasn't heart problems.

Anyway the hietal heria I've had for at least 25 years is allowing more of my stomach into my chest cavity, I've been sleeping half the time in a chair.  Anyway I went to a GI Dr in Omaha yesterday (I hate most GI Drs)  Nice younger lady, short, kinda brown color and with an accent and I knew I'd struck gold, a DR that will listen to the patient, not a crabby old phart that knows everything.

Anyway, we discussed so ideas and we both agreed that no matter how many pills I eat, how I change my diet, or if I lost a few pounds the problem will still be there ready to attack with out warning or after a good meal.

She said she knew a good DR over to UNO Med Center (Probally as good as the Mayo or any other esp for GI problems)  who was good at repairing them. Asked her if it was Dr O (can't spell his name) and she said it was.  Dr O did some new cutting edge at the time repairs on me in 2003 and is a wonderful guy.   Anyway she is getting the ball rolling and we are hoping by the end of the month (I cancled my last two trips one last Sun and one in 2 weeks)  anyway it will work out good because it's winter and it's a lapro deal anyway and it should only take a couple weeks to heal up.

I'll be fine, the Dr was surprised I chose that option so quick, she said most fool around with it first.  Told her I'd had 9 lapros already and they were no big deal.

(Besides my wife will do the dishes and laundry for at least a week after.)

OH it was an adventure going to the big city yesterday, ( I hate driving in cities with real traffic)  Was in the far west side of Omaha, made plans to leave early, sneak in on a 2 lane highway not I-80, and afterward in the going home traffic to say they heck with it and hit the gravel.  Yeah right, checked The Field Marshall before leaving, it needed a little drink, gave it one, had a bad reflux frombending over, went in the house for water for me.  Got gas, had to take I-80 to get to the highway, and overheated, had to call the wife and she had to rush and help me.  LOL, in my reflux mess I forgot to put the radiator cap back on.  Had to buy one and put it one when we got back to Lincoln.

At least I seem to have the problem with it eating radiator hoses fixed, the one Dale got me in Ord that I put on in camp is still fine.

That's great you have good doctors. They will take care of you! I won't let a doctor work on me if they want to put me under. Sedated, OK, but no anesthesia. I'll hold still while the run those high tech cables through my innards.

    Good luck with this! :D

Get well, Del, and don't do that any more.  You're frightening the kids and women folk.

Does this mean your general Coosie disposition will mellow out and you'll be downright affable towards Yuppies and such?

Won't hardly seem right . . .

We have to get through at least Oct and their pumpkin spice thing for me to even consider it.   At least these will keep them from reproducing.  Goes good with a pumpkin spice latte.

OK went to the big city (Omaha) on Wed, they gave me good drugs and stuck a tube down my throat.  ::)  The hernia has dropped back where it belongs sometime in the past (not unusual) but my esophagus had narrowed quite a bit, they expanded this and gave me some muscle relaxers to take for a while, looks like it fixed it up and everything is going to be fine.

Thanks for the good thoughts.
