Rifle, after "dressing" down the hammer slowly each time, I've taken the guns to the range and test fired them. So far, I 'm still getting the imprint to the hammer, just nowhere as deep as before. That is why I believe I still have a safe margin or error. Of course, I've been known to be wrong "from time to time!". If so, I'll have to own up to my mistakes and try again.  As usual, your taking the time to respond in such comprehensive manner is appreciated.

If you go to far, you can always Tig-Weld the face. And start over again.  ;)

Wish I could TIG weld, Lefty. Don't know anyone who could do it for me either. So far, no problems and if I have to, I'll replace the hammers.

I am fortunate to have a Grandson who is a Master Welder.

A quick report:

1. The short Track of the Wolf SS 5.5x.9mm nipples for .31/36 cal Colt and Remington pocket guns did not fit.  I put one in and the threads were so tight I broke my nipple wrench trying to remove it. Thank goodness I had a spare that could be modified to fit the smaller opening.

2. The large Treso nipples did not help the cap jams.  I have some of the shorter ones in my '49 but will leave well enough alone for now.

3. The base of the TOTW SS larger size nipples were too large.  When I filed them in a drill press only the narrow rim lost metal.  The base ended up as an oval with the widest part still too big for the slots in the cylinder.

Folks, my arthritic thumbs have had enough of this foolishness.  I give up.  The two new 1862s are now packed away in the bottom of my safe.  While working on these in the shop my language was as foul as a two-hole outhouse.  Eventually they will become part of a static display in the show case I will build for all of my cap guns both working and duds.  If anyone is interested in purchasing the '62s I'm open to offers.

Uberti should place the following label on their boxes: "Warning: Percussion Revolvers May Be Hazardous to Your Sanity."

I've had a Uberti '62 Pocket Navy for some time now, it was probably manufactured >10 years ago.

More recently I acquired a '62 Pocket Police and decided I'd finally take them out and shoot them some, but I'd also do some prepping prior to this.

One thing I decided to do was to change out the Nipples.

I read what's been said here and about some Nipples not fitting properly and others needing to be fitted.

While it looked to me like the Slix Shots Nipples are the cat's meow for the larger Ubertis, Track has their Nipples that are supposedly made just FOR these small pocket revolvers.

I thought I'd give those a go so ordered up 2 sets to fit the small revolvers.

When they arrived I proceeded to fit them to the Pocket Navy.  They were tight, as mentioned here, but not so tight they wouldn't work.  A little oil and it felt like the Track Nipples were cutting their thread pattern into the Cylinder?  This accomplished and they did screw all the way in.

O.k. so then to the Pocket Police.  Hmm...~2-1/2 turns and things started binding.  Some holes were tighter than others.

So, what to do about this.  Something was definitely WRONG.  Was it Track's American machining of metric sizes?  Or possibly something not "quite right" with things there in Italy?

Searching for a good Metric Tap I found this

http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=337-4280

After this arrived I went and ran this Tap through the Pocket Police's Nipple holes where I could feel it was cutting some metal.

And after re-tapping the Pocket Police's Cylinder the new Track Nipples screwed in with no resistance and bottomed out as they are supposed to.

It'll be a while on that Range Report as the '62 Pocket Police will go off to a holster maker to have him use it to make a holster.

But when it (they) go to the range, I'll be sure to update y'all  ;)

5/9/15:
Just received my Uberti 1851 and 1861 back from Mike.  The actions have a nice light smooth feel to them.  The cap post is neatly done.  I will see how they shoot if it ever stops raining and snowing here in the Front Range of Colorado.

Mike must be doing an extra good job on my '62s as it's been five months and one week since I sent them off to Georgia.
