DD,

We can't all live in a warm climate.
Even on a cold day, we here in the south land can still have a good day of shooting.
Its just a matter of prospective I guess?

Hope the first match of the year goes good for you DD. We had ours last weekend here in NJ. While I will NEVER complain about shooting, standing in 4 inches of mixed mud/ice while the cold wind was blowing was, well....STILL better than that darn winter we just had!!!

Boy, you guys are lucky.  The glaciers are slowly receding up here.  going to dig the targets out of the snow next week and pick up the tree litter.  I would have been shooting all winter except I don't like walking through three plus feet of snow to change out targets.

The season opener at the Rock River Regulators club was just fine.  Started out cool and windy, ended up warm and windy.  First stage the first round stovepiped because I short stroked the Browning 92.  Went to the unloading table, removed the spring cap at the south end of the magazine tube and presto pronto, the spring left over the backstop.  Had to get a range shut down to retrieve the spring.  Re-assembled the gun, went to the end of the line and finally shot the stage.  One "P" and two misses and that was the end of my clean match aspirations.  The rest of the match went good.  I was the only shooter there that was shooting Genuine Powder.  Much coughing, gagging and expletives, all in good humor.

So, the season opener was just fine for me to get the rust and cobwebs out of my cranium.  Next match I'll be much better. . . Just you wait and see. .

DD; You did about as well as I did my last match. I did get the class win as I was a class of ONE! But second last  overall.

I was the only one shooting Black Powder.  The only one shooting FCGF.  So, I took home the trophy and didn't shoot any toes off, drop guns or put any over the berm.  I count that as first match of the year success. . .
