Last fall before snow flew, I took my latest Remington .44 to the range (a Pietta), loaded her up and realized the caps were somewhere else .....
I left it loaded but uncapped all winter. Today I took it along with a new AR 15 (can I say that here?) and it fired flawlessly!

The lube on the cylinder pin had dried, so after the third cylinder full, it got a little hard to cock duellist style.

When I got the gun, it came with a Kirst 5 shot .45 Colt cylinder. It fired just fine with cartridges but gave misfires with cap & ball.
Turns out the strain screw wasn't making contact with the hammer spring as it was too short.

With a longer screw and turned in to put adequate tension on the spring, ignition is guaranteed.
