Would a heavy gauge aluminum box be good for storing Black Powder safely? I was not
Good at physics in school so hoping some of you would know. I worry about static electricity

I recommend against "sturdy" containers of any kind, that is akin to making a bomb body.....and, I don't get concerned about static electricity with regards to BP.

What Slim said.  Cool dry storage is good.  Static electricity is a non issue.  I store my bp in the cardboard boxes it comes in.  My bride likes the empty boxes for storing her canning jars.

Thanks Montana Slim and Dick Dastardly --- I will keep the BP in the cardboard boxes.

Treebeard,

At the gun store I used to buy powder at they had all of the smokeless in a safe and the black powder in a wood box I asked about that and was told that the state (CA) required it to be stored that way.

Someback, there was an alternate storage method found (by accident).  A salvage outfit raised a cannon off the sea floor.  Cannon had been "spiked" before being dumped overboard.
One of the brilliant salvers pried out the spike and struck a match to the touch hole.  BOOM!!  Seems the cannon was loaded when spiked and remained water tight.
Salvage crew had to go back down and bring it back up again.  Equal and opposite reaction don't ya know.

admittedly, this had nothing to do with the OP.  I just thought it was interesting.
