Received an email from Cabellas yesterday with a $20 gift certificate (on $100+ purchases)  and when I went to the C&B page they did have some good sale prices on certain models.  There were at least a couple that had $100 off regular prices and this included the popular 'in the white' Colt .44 Navy model that has the short barl and engraving.

Sun Prairie, Wi. will have a brand new Cabelas store opening towards spring.  It has a generous footprint and so should be a well supplied store.  I'll report back.

I hear tale that a Cabela's is coming to the Houston area this Spring.  Just in time for them to collect my bonus from work!

Not to rain on the parade, but every time I looked at the catalog and saw something of interest and wanted to actually look at it, I'd head to my local store (a big one that even sells tractors and 4X4s) to see what's what.

Each and every time, I was told they could get whatever it was from the warehouse, but they didn't have any in stock, and never did have any in stock.

There's way too much Chinese-made (literally - not right-wing rantingly) stuff for me to get too excited, so the only thing I've bought from them was a 'Therma-Rest' air mattress in an emergency - returning it unused after I'd finally located the repair kit that came with my issued one.

Be patient, check the Bargain Cave for BP Revolvers. I have purchased all my Pietta Colt's there and have saved $100.00 of dollars.

I'd be careful with the engraved models that are nickel plated pard.  All of mine are actually brass-framed.  Just a head's up! ;D glad I got mine via pawn shops and bargains.  If I'd paid even close to the full msrp I'd be really fuming right now.

Ditto on the bargain cave. I've gotten some great deals on BP revolvers and I also picked up Leupold scopes that had been display models and no boxes for 100 dollars or more off of new.

Mine is color-cased lazer engraved steel frame, and attracts a magnet. This one is the steel frame Bill Hickock model. Paid less than $200.00 for the piece, IIRC.

I got one of the Hickock models out of the bargain cave.

I'm still sorting it all out, so I will reserve judgement. So far Cabella is ahead of Bass Pro and Gander Mountain for BP stuff, but if
I am looking for clothing and equipment Gander Mountain moves to the head of the list. Bass Pro is slipping to status as "last resort" with Dixie Gun Works holding a special place for those "can't get it anywhere else" situations. Seems like DGW is really good on knowing where things can be found if they don't have it. Can't say the same for the others I've mentioned.  Just sayin....

A new Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops is going up in the Chattanooga area as we speak The Cabelas store located in Fort Oglethorpe, GA will be opening soon They project fall of this year but the building is nearly built o Looks like they are ahead of schedule to me.
the Bass Pro Shops Location in East Ridge, Tennessee has only started Construction so It will probably be fall before they are opened.

When Cabelas is running a sale on cap & ball pistols, the prices are pretty good. Their regular prices CAN be a bit high. About six months ago I bought an Uberti 2nd model Dragoon at a family owned muzzleloading shop (won't mention their name) for $380. A cabelas is about 15 minutes away, so I normally go there as well. The exact same Uberti 2nd model Dragoon had a price tag of $450. That is a big difference, especially considering the extra $70 was over the list price the family owned place was charging and they are nicer people to deal with anyway. This is not the first time I've noticed such a discrepency in Cabelas prices. To be fair, Cabelas sale price is usually a good bargain, but this is the only time I would buy one from them.

Just bought a pair of the Pietta .44 cal. U.S. Marshalls on sale at Cabelas.  They are said to be neither stainless or plated......just polished.  Of course I had to order them into my local store since they aren't black polymer guns.  Looking forward to tuning them up and shooting them at Land Run and Ks. State BP match!
