Cliff
I been meaning to email you, I figure either you or Homer might have one on the table.
And hope to pick one out ...
Unfortunately,  :( the Convention slipped from my grasp, I was to attend, reservation's were made etc.

I have had to bow out, Family health matters with my co traveler/driver , left me facing 19 hours driving up alone.

Skeeter Lewis

I believe our pard Johnny McCrae made it.

Thanks for remembering Skeeter. Yup, I'm the guilty one. If you go to this link and scroll down a bit you will see my original post on this Holster  http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,47772.msg571128.html

It is a copy of a Holster that my good friend Ten Wolves made for me a gift and it is a work of art. The color and finish are on this
Holster is outstanding! I display my 1851 Navy in it. TW had a unique way of locking the pouch to the skirt.

My pard G.W. Strong won one as a door prize awhile back. He liked it and had me make him a mate. I couldn't get the colors to match exactly.

Ten Wolves gets the credit on this one.

Johnny, did you use walnut stain on those? Sometimes with that they just don't match at first because they seem to take on a more redder look with age. I wonder if they wound up matching after some time?

Walnut stain is one of the draws for me... I tried to make some , walnut does not grow in the deep south....

Got some hulls sent to me, pretty lack luster attempt,  as I failed, the solution was way to light in color....
I like that rich reddish brown

That is really nice looking work

Hi Cliff,

I used my home brewed Walnut Dye on these Holsters. The two Holsters were not made or dyed at the same time and probably not form the same hide. That may account for some of the difference. You really don't notice it too badly when he is wearing them. I like the classic pose G.W. strikes when he shoots.

I have found that with the walnut stain they start out more brownish and the red color comes with age. If you can dry it in the sun it will come out darker and more red. I am making an additional holster for a pard now and I have one of his other holsters and it is not wanting to match. I think I recall making his others during the summer and were dried outside in sunlight.
