OK, pards. let us know what you have buttcovers on. I have them on all my long guns. It saves the stock from getting all banged up on my pistol hammers and gear. It also helps keep the gun placed on my shoulder.

I modified this post and added this pic of my wife's rifle:

Marshall, Ive got a few on hand for others but do not fancy them so much myownself ($10word).  The occasional stock dings go down as character marks and kinda match the occasional dings on me.  Just right fer an old outlaw look.  I do cheet a bit and use a lever wrap though.

Your wife is a southpaw of else she's all scarred up from that concho.

Am I right?
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

I use a butt stock cover on my rifle.  The end of it rough and keeps the rifle from sliding around.  It has helped my accuracy and speed with the rifle.

I need for my shotgun to slide a bit when I'm loading so I don't use one on it.

I don't have any on my long guns.

It's not like it used to be, but it'll do.

Yes to both.  Handstiched buffalo hide.  Pads the shoulder and keeps the butts from getting all buggered up when you 'stage' them.  (There's a joke in that sentence somewhere.)

All our long guns----

Yup.  Got 'em on ever'thang we drag along to shoots.
Mainly 'cause they all look real similar.
It's jus' plum amazin' how much a bunch of long guns look alike when sittin' in a rack.
Thataway it's easy to grab ours without grabbin' someone else's.
Had a Pard snatch up my ol' Rossi once (He coulda swore it was his) & tried to load .45's in a .44.

We get 'em from Brownells.  They come in 3 or 4 sizes.  They also got some paddin'.  Not much, though.
I found out they ain't real leather.  But look close enough to fool anyone who asked 'bout 'em at loadin' tables.

LOL, 40. I put one on both sides so she'd get it either way. Actually, I checked the positioning to make sure it wouldn't interfere with her before putting them on. They are well behind where she rests her cheek.

I use butt covers on both shotgun and rifle.   I learned this from Long Hunter, some matches have a stage your long guns vertically with the butt on wooden side walk or somethin like it.  The coefficient of friction between a steel butt plate the wood ain't very high.  If it slips and falls you could get a DQ.  SASS is trying to get all clubs to stage long guns horizontally on a table, bale of hay, or somethin.    But this is goin take awhile, in the mean time I use buttcovers.

No, I don't use any of this on my Lever Action.  :)

Dakota Widowmaker

Yes, I am about to.

I got a chance to use a Rossi 92 with a well made cover on it and now I have to put one on mine.
(working on one for my Model 94...soon to fallow for my model 92 and Marlin)
