Heart's Desire......

This old Colt's is one of the very first six guns I actually lusted over.  There were others prior but few did more than pop caps ;-)

This one is a first generation Colt, Sheriff's Model, caliber is of course .45 Colt and a 4" barrel.  Blue and case finish and a stunning set of old carved ivory.  Lady Liberty with a shield on the carving.  Condition of the gun is truly amazing for it's age.

Beautiful but out of my price range then and now.

This is my answer to that many years of lust.  Took me a long time to come up with a 4" Colt.  This is a Storekeeper's Model.  The ivory?  No less stunning than Lady Liberty in my mind and a fitting tribute to Colt.   The only modern pair of one ivory I have seen with an ivory spacer.  And I have seen a lot of one piece ivory over the last 40 years.    I am a lucky man to have this one for a short time.  But as they say, "you will have to pry my cold dead hands from this one".  :-)

A hundred years from now I hope mine will look as good as my original heart's desire.  Till then I plan on wearing it out!  The next owner is on his own.

Next up?   Looks like I need to have Turnbull case color that hammer :-)   Heirlooms have to start some where.

When I first saw this revolver, I had the same desire. I immediately fell in love with it and had to get it. It belonged to Hank Williams Jr. And he had it modified by King's Gun Works to it's present condition. It is a black powder gun with a Bisley hammer and a 3 3/4 inch barrel. It also has the ejector fit to it to make it more handy than the Sheriff model and one piece Walnut grips....

I never considered myself a failure...I started out at the bottom and happen to like it here!

You gents are giving me a severe case of lust!  ;D

It's taken me a long time to come up with an affordable set of original guns for CAS, but have finally managed it.  None are anywhere near pristine, like yours - but are good, mechanically solid shooters.

I did have the chance last weekend to participate in an OK Corral reenactment with my 1880 vintage Artillery model Colt's.  It lent the day a little special "spice" knowing the revolvers had actually been around when it happened.

Always thought that was an slick gun myself after seeing it in Venturino's first book.  Gotta be a story behind you snagging it!  Care to share that one?   I have a similar set up with a 3.5" barrel.  But greatly prefer how the non ejector guns feel.  So I have the 4" above and a custom 6" I am working on to use as a target gun.

That is a good story.... I like to see a Thread that had stories like this one....

I have one on my original Griswold & Gunnison,  shared it in the NCOWS Shootist an issue or so ago.

Having noteworthy guns is an honor. Old guns need to be shared, articles and books are a great way to do that. I have a Burgess slide action shotgun that Steven Dodd Hughes wanted to borrow for an article in the Shooting Sportsman. This is the gun and article...

Life is good when you have the opportunity to be the caretaker of fine old guns like this.  Take care of them and pass along to the next generation.  :)

I had a Spencer carbine, 21XXX, I had in fact seen it at a gun show, but moved on undecidedly.
The more I though about it I wanted it, so I contacted the seller and bought it later the the following week.
Not a beauty queen, with some minor digs and dings in the wood and nice patina  , but the internals were in excellent shape and the bore a mirror.
It sported a rack # stamped in the stock , and was a candidate for an S&S upper CF Block which I fitted.

The thing that made unique was I was worked as a Prop-maker in the TV show Miami Vice.
In one episode, the script called for the prep ( a gunrunner ) to have a personal collection of various firearms... so my personal collection was cast as Set Dressing for a fee  ;) .
Next, I was working on a Made for TV film "The Blue and The Gray" in this one the script calls for Lincoln to test Christopher Spencer's
new gun. Gregory Peck played Lincoln (I don't recall the C. Spencer actor)
My Spencer, along with another were the on camera guns, and mine was the one Peck fired blanks from...
The gun also had prop time on North & South II , Ironclads & Glory.

Just as an aside the Hollywood going rental rate was 15% of the value  ( week minimum even as day player )
That Spencer made a nice living  :)
