Hello SSS and Two Flints,

Here is my post as you requested.

Your serial number check found the serial number 56722, only one off 56721 as belonging to the 18 th New York Cavalry, also some above and below was from Illinois Cavalry units. I have traced those units from New Orleans to Texas from June 1865 to May 1866. Most of these units were supplied at New Orleans. By tracking killed in action, died of being sick and deserters one can follow the unit travels.

I am very aware one number apart could be a weapon that went to another part of the world. I play the odds.
