Comboys were short of everything generally.  Everything but an opinion ;-)

Heard it asked here, "why would anyone antigue a pefectly good firearm?"

Hard not to ask why not IMO when you look at a black Rodeo from USFA's past production or any of the newest verions of the butt ugly black matte finish.  Sadly few of them will shoot as well as the Bisley or the USFA gun do now no matter how you dress them up or feed them.

Also seen it written ....that real ivory is wasted on a "black gun".  I have an opinion on both topics.

4th generation family Bisley from 1911.  Just honest holster wear and keeping the gun in good condition has removed the finish on the Bisley.  Been that way long before I was born.   The Bisley lived a hard life on horse back for the first 20 years in a Colorado belt holster.  What little rust you can find has to be tracked dowe with magnification.  There are only "interesting guns" in our house...which means accurate guns.

The USFA Rodeo shown below the Bisley is a a tack driver, exact POA @ 15 with 255gr bullets.   Real aged ivory on that one to compliment just how good a shooter it is.   I wanted a duplicate of the Bisley for finish and accuracy.  Got both.  Going to see if can now keep the newest one rust free for a century and many thousands of rounds fired.  ;-)   The plan is to wear the SAA out several times over by the time I do a dirt dive.  The Bisley happy retired and out to pasture except for the rare occasion.  Not that it couldn't do more mind you!

Nice guns...but way too expensive now (buy a Colt and have change left over for coffee?!!)   and butt ugly in factory form.  YMMV   But I suspect it won;t vary much if you are a cowboy.  And a hearty "thank you" to the other gentlement for the encouragement.

I am one of those do not purposely antique a new firearms members. Let it earn its wear.
On that note I agree with you that ALL matte black finishes should be required to be antiqued just so the poor revolver isn't laughed at by the others ones. I want a more authentic persona and presentation.
