I am sorry to say that the shooting range and the old west town that we all built at Groninga's Hill at Ackley , Iowa is nothing more than a memory. Someone has purchased that property and is turning it into a trap/sporting clay shooting area, with perpsective hunting venues in the future. It was a sad day to see everything gone but this is what they call progress.
The memories that that place holds are many for us.
The friends that were made are countless and collecting pearls of information will long be remembered.

From my very first trip there to visit on a Saturday during a national shoot, I was hooked on NCOWS, to
the learning experience of shooting and reloading buffalo guns from so many wonderful friends, I truly
loved the many weekend trips up there!!

Sad to hear

"Someone has purchased that property and is turning it into a trap/sporting clay shooting area"

I suppose there is some solace, it will continue in Shooting Sports...and not a Walmart or car lot...
Like the endangered Battlefield encroachments.  :(
when planets align...do the deal !

Sad news. We had fun at the GAF Musters there.

I could write a book about all the good times we had there. My comfort is knowing that it will be used for shooting events.

I bet Mr. Irons, Editor of The Shootist, would gladly print every word of your reminisces.

I would just as gladly like to read about them.
