Hi all.

My shooting partner was given an original barrel from an 1885 High Wall.  It is a #4 taper and chambered for .40-90 Sharps Straight.  The chamber and bore aren't half bad in my opinion.  Now for the bad news.  Somewhere along the road, this thing has been shortened to just shy of 26".  The good news is that it is nicely done.  There is a stamp on the muzzle that is interesting and perhaps somebody might know the who dunnit.

Thanks for looking.  The Rolling Block action is an unrelated project BTW.

here in uk when they shorten the barrel they have to have it reproofed, then its usually stamped on the end of the barrel

Interesting.  We were thinking it was a gunsmith's signature stamp of sorts, but it may be a proof house mark.

Been looking, but Mr. Google can't seem to find that exact one.
