Hi pards,

I have a NMV (serial # 512-XXXX) and have cracked the black plastic grip panel around the screw hole. I basically tightened the screw too far and now the plastic flange holding the metal bushing is cracked.

I thought superglue wouldn't be strong enough and I'm not sure if using a soldering iron to melt the crack would work. Maybe some araldite?

Cheers.

Try calling Ruger or put a WTB on the classifieds here or on the SASS wire.

I have a set of those grips you can have for shipping.

I've had good luck repairing hard rubber type grips with Brownell's Accragel .  You can mix in a little of their black pigment powder into it
so it will match your grips also.   That stuff is good for fixing all manner of things;  I even know a fellow who repaired one of his own fillings with it!!

Thanks for the help guys.

The crack is only visible from the inside of the grip panel so I'm going to try some Araldyte first and see how it goes. If that doesn't work then I'm eyeing off a nice pair of textured wood grips.

Pay Dirt Norvelle

I had a pair of white grips that I dropped and broke off a piece.  Super Glue worked fine for me, but I then ordered a pair of gunfighter Grips and use those now.   ;D

Wouldn't surprise me if Ruger wouldn't just send you a new set of grips if you called them and told them what happened.
