Has anyone here made one from the pattern in his book? I am working on one almost had it finished but the straps were too short and I think the holster carrier or the over the shoulder strap are also too short. I followed the pattern and the instructions for the length of the straps.

Camano Ridge

I am making one right now. I drew out the pattern then extended the front ear on the bottom half and extended the part that goes over the shoulder. I did a paper mock up first and found it would not work for me so I re did the paper pattern first the bottom part by about 2 1/2" on the front part of the bottom piece. I then placed the paper pattern under my arm about where I would wear it then measured over the shoulded from the front ear to the back ear on the bottom part. I allowed for a 2" overlap on the back part for attaching the two pieces. On the front I allowed for a 5 " overlap to allow for some adjustment. Once I had my measurement I cut my pattern for the top piece of the harness in half layed it on a large piece of paper and keeping the same arc seperated the two pieces by the extra length. The top piece came out about 25 1/2" in length. The only way the original pattern will work is if you are a skinny little bugger like the guy in the picture.  Hope this helps. If I can be of further assistance shoot me a PM.

Camano beat me to the post, . . . Al's model must have been in the, . . . uhhh, . . . "small" cagegory at least.

I found out several years ago when I made my first one, . . . but other than having to adjust the pattern for size, . . . I kind of like it.

May God bless,
Dwight

Folks have....expanded since Al's day, God bless him.

Ya Al was not a real big person so the shoulder rig pattern will need upscaling for larger folks
all his holster patterns seem to be spot on tho.

Thank you for all your comments. I am working on the pattern to increase the size

Hey Camano would you share your patterns? I have tried expanding mine but when I put it on, the back of the over the shoulder strap sticks up, does not lay down on the back. Do I have the curve wrong or some thing to long/short?

a narrower strap will lay flat better and the circumference of the outside and inside diameters of the strap have to be right for a wide strap to lay flat at the back shoulder blade
that is why Ilike narrow straps.
