Seems HIGH.  I saw a Mae West WW2 life vest go for $15,000 because someone left out a period.  $86.00 to $8700.  Everybody else piled on.

This kind.  I beaded this for a guy in MO who had an antique 1873 Winchester.

This knife case is leather... buckskin with a buffalo rawhide liner... does it count in this forum?

That's some beautiful bead work, Pawneefork. Thanks for the pics. Welcome to the leather forum.

Thanks Marshall.  I took it up in the 80s when I moved to CO and fell further in love with Western history after seeing the plains.  I couldn't find quality stuff anywhere so I learned to make it myself.  The secret to good-looking work (besides proiper technique) is authentic materials.  I only use antique Venetian beads -- the real trade objects -- brain-tanned hide, elk sinew, etc.  No nylon, no Japanese or Czech beads.  I have a stash assembled over 30 years and I make everything the discriminating Sioux warrior could need -- leggings, pipe bags, shirts, knife sheaths, small bags, moccasins, shields, bow cases, bonnets, etc.  Since I can't use eagle feathers, I limit myself to split buffalo horn bonnets.  I can't abide subsitute materials.

This is one I have made, . . . kinda plain, . . . could be dressed almost any way.

May God bless,
Dwight

My customer called me and asked if I could do it, . . . and I usually do the Bill Gates answer, . . . "Of Course", . . . then get to figuring out how.

It actually turned out he was involved in some  kind of quick draw competition, . . . and we really had to "work" to get it right for him, . . . but he left out the driveway smiling and happy.

May God bless,
Dwight

Thanks Rick.  There's probably no need to get your bank account 'up' -- you just have to catch me at the right time.  I do this mostly for therapeutic purposes, and because I love the Plains material culture and don't want to see it disappear.  Not that I want a run of projects to land on me, but I do favors like this now and then.

I'm laying in several kilos of awesome vintage Italian beads right now, so I'll be set for life with regard to materials.  After that, I only need hide, and time.  I'm beading at the moment to pay for my daughter's lawyer.  I'm in a custody fight for my 11-yr old and her lawyer is part Sioux.  It was way Providential.  Anyway, I'm here, so get with me offline and tell me what you'd like.  I have to pay for MY lawyer, but it's not as bad as you might think.  I would think a re-enactor could always use a nice beaded knife case, and they're pretty easy.  Takes a weekend.  I need buffalo rawhide for liners, but I know where to get it.

Here's the front side of a pipe bag I did last year.  The bag had over 30,000 beads on it.

That's a nice holster, Dwight. It would be interesting to see how your guy uses it for fast draw. Of course, I understand that Steve McQueen was quick with his mare's leg.

Pawneefork, that's some fine beadwork. Thanks for sharing it with us. That takes some patience. 8)
