I picked this up a little while ago as a companion to my little cut down S&W, something with a longer barrel (not for use as a pocket gun....5" bbl). This is the 1st model, 1887, BP, single post lock with the owl's head on the grip looking down the barrel instead of down at the base of the grip. Action was loose, post lock spring was gone and there was no front sight...all remedied now. The tricky fix was the post lock spring. The set screw that held it in place was rusted solid, the spring was broken and the spring channel was filled with rusted spring!! I have no idea how to open an "L" shaped channel with a blind end so I went a different route, an exterior mounted flat spring partially channeled into the frame and held in place with a set screw on the top of the frame (see pic). The lock frame channel I peined out to make it tighter on the post and the front site is a piece of brass I channel peined in place. It shoots a bit high and to the left so I'm going to practice a little Kentucky Windage on it till I find the right powder and slug combo then I might work on relacing the front site and off setting it a bit, not to mention changing the teeny weeny grips!! With some store bought bp rounds it penetrates a 2X4 from 7 yards, nice penetration for an "anemic" round !!

Great project Thumper. Those little .32s have always looked like fun.
