I cut the pieces out last July, and finally threaded the needles today!!!  It'll take me awhile at this rate , eh!!!  I'll try to add pics to this as I get more done. I got the smaller inside pocket sewn on today!!  I used 2 needles with artificial sinew and a saddle stitch. Leather is smoked buffalo, fairly rough but quite soft!

Outstanding, Brad. Congrats on getting started. It'll be fun to see your progress.

It looks like you're backing your awl with the 2x4. You'll find it easier on your awl to use a cork or a small rubber ball for that. I use a dog's ball about 2" across with a flat spot cut on one side. It works great. I've also used a wine cork, which is just as good. In a stitching horse, I find the cork or ball are easy to handle.

Not using a sewing awl, the 2x is for the 3 hole punch!  I'm likely doing things the hard way, but it'll work!!!

stab a slab of bees wax with your 3 hole punch. parafin wax should work as well. also strop the punch a few times.
sure makes the punch go in and out of leather easier

get it done so we can see it.....
