Safety bar spring missing

I have just gotten a second original '76. Very neat rifle -- half magazine 45-75 with full length octagon barrel and rifle stock. And shoots great. I noticed that the safety bar is not under any pressure. I removed the stock and found that the spring is just not there. The stock had clearly not been off for a long time. So, Has anyone replaced/installed a safety bar spring on an original '76? It looks hard to get to. Thanks,
