After a previous post I hesitate to ask this question.  But I found one at a good price.  This is the full size Model P.

Is it NCOWS legal to use?

No debate yes or no and maybe why not.

Thank you (yous or y'all)

Birdshead grips Single Action Colts clones are not legal, although they have been documented to exist on single actions, the Colt Factory made at least three of them, the Congress has placed them on the unapproved list....

And I hesitate to give this answer ;)  it's not intended as a personal attack but rather to help others who may have similar questions.

Go to the NCOWS website http://www.ncows.org, then click on "bylaws", then click on "unapproved list". 4th item under Revolvers is "Cimarron Thunderer" 6th item is "P frames with Birds head grip".

Of course, if the price is good enough all you'd need is a plowhandle gripframe...even one from a cap & ball should be easy to fit.

Thanks for the answers.  I admit, I stupidly did not look at the unapproved.  I did look for a statement in the by-laws.  So use to 'only' referring to the by-laws and approved list, I didn't even look at the unapproved.

I do thank you both,
