I am new here, but not new to the 44-40 and until 2010 owned a 1906 model 92. I've been reading all these comments and I think y'all are missing the point, I think........

Y'all keep talking about the toggles being weak. Uberti stated, per a couple of comments somewhere above, that they strengthened the receiver metal. That tells me after much shooting high pressure loads, the receiver tends to stretch! Then you get the excessive head
space.......that's possibly why Winchesters testing of the 76 went the way it did. It was a new gun, not old, worn and abused..........like I am.........
Griswold,
The Griswold was favored by my Great Grand Pa James Henry Story who rode with the 7th Georgia Cavalry.

All of the '73 (and I think '66 and '60?) bolts from Uberti have had that key for the last 2 or 3 years.  The old-style bolts are getting harder to find, so if you need to replace one you will often have to buy the new firing pin extension that goes with the new "keyed" bolts.

I finally acquired a new uberti '73 in .357 but I can't find any hint of that key in my gun. Is there a way to check its serial and find out when it was made?
Long days, pleasant nights.

Perhaps this will help. The Letters are Important. You will find it on the Receiver.
