I have found various links to original and reproduction Hazen military cartridge belt loop slides during my online searches. Does anyone know of commercially produced 19th century versions for civilian use?

Do you mean cartridge belt slides originally manufactured during the 19th Century for sale to the civilian market rather than by the Ordnance Dept. for the Army?

I believe that is what he means. I has been my understanding that the Hazen slides were only issued for a short time before being replaced with cartridge belts.

Slides are not legal for NCOWS use but if a person presented a good copy of a Hazen slide with some documentation it could likely be approved. The originals were made for 45-70 and probably wouldn't work too well for the pistol calibers during main match.

The Hazen examples proves slides were thought of but the problem is if slides in general are allowed you would have everybody using the new fangled SASS type gear, much of which didn't come along until recently. I agree with the no slide rule, the rules and enforcement of gun leather being used in NCOWS is already too lax in my opinion.

If using a true 19th century style rig as is required in NCOWS, what advantage would a slide have over a cartridge belt? I can position my holsters anywhere on my belt giving access to cartridges anywhere around my body.
