I taking it you have 2 different questions...CCW and fast draw with different handguns(?).

(1) This is for CCW, huh?  Full Size Vaquero?   ???
My choice would be a 3.75" or 4.68" Bisley Vaquero modified to birdhead rounded butt and checkered panels, but keep the Bisley hammer and trigger.  Heck, I'm just guessing here.  I have a different CCW handgun than Ruger six-guns.  The Rugers are more for open carry to me.

(2) For fast draw competion?  I don't know.  I never really cared much for it.   :-\
But I reckon a 4.68" standard (plowhandle) Vaquero with checkered grip panels.  I guess I'd say stay with standard trigger and hammer (tall).

Your mileage may vary.

well I just thought I would dust off this thread. I just got a 3.75 with a birdhead grip for CCW. I'll show her off when I get to bring her home.

Right now I have the grips that came with my New Vaquero Bisleys, however I have two set of Gunfighter grips on order and will see how they go.  I think they will be fine as I really like the feel.  I was able to hold a New Vaquero with the grips and they feel very good in my hand.

Did they require any fitting once you got them?

Some minor fitting required..... need to set the escutcheons and a bit of file work and some finish sanding on the curves...

Well I got my new grips from Buff Bros. They look just like yours Jayhawker. It was  a little confusing choosing the color and style. But it should look great. I hope they feel good also. I'll let you know and post a pick.
I really like the way the gun feels with the stock grips. It should carry very well.

I originally bought my grips just to spruce up the birds head for my daughters wedding.  But after doing some shooting with them, they are a permanent fixture....good luck with yours, I hope you like them as much as I do mine.
