Hello Lads,
I picked up a Rossi 65, ame as a 92, they say in 44-40 this week, I stripped it down for a full cleaning, replaced the ejector spring and the action is nice and slick
It just wont feed without doing the double lever shuffle
I am using Starline brass, Laser cast 44-40 bullets in .428 and loading at .1592 oal.with a roll crimp.

My set of Pachmayer dummy rounds slide right through without a stutter. They are a bit shorter at 1.566. I am not sure if it length or bullet.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello,
they are from lasercast, they are a 200 grain .428 round nose flat point with a large meplat.

It is the only 44-40 slug I have on hand right now, and they are a great bullet in my revolvers.
here is the bullet,  http://www.laser-cast.com/44Cal.html
Thanks

I have used Master Craft (formerly Double-A) 210 gr (213 gr. actual) bullets in a Rossi M65 for years. My loads run 1.582- 1.585" OAL, and the shape is similar to the ones you are using. I would suspect, especially since the dummy rounds feed okay, that it is the OAL, rather than the bullet shape. You may need to trim your brass a bit shorter in order to get the crimp to seat on the crimp groove with the OAL a bit shorter than what you are using now.

We occasionally use a '92 at work, yes they are very sensitive to length. Just seat the bullet a hair shorter, often it doesn't take much.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.
