Guns Garrett

I recently came across this book by the late Chris Kyle, and was wondering if it was worth the $20 hardback price, or should I wait for paperback?  Looked very interesting, covering US history by telling the story of 10 American firearms, from the Pennsylvania Long Rifle to the M-16.

The ten firearms discussed are:
American Longrifle
Spencer
Colt SAA
Winchester 73
1903 Springfield
Colt 1911
Thompson Submachine gun
M1 Garand
.38 Special Police
M-16
I skimmed the chapter on the '03 Springfield, and Kyle also discusses the histories and merits of the Krag, '93 and 98 Mausers.

I haven't read it but................when you consider whole books have been written on each of those firearms what is it that book is going to have to offer besides using someones name as a selling point.

The chapter on the American Longrifle was an article in a recent American Rifleman. It made a good article.

Since I just read "American Sniper" by Cris I really think this book could be quite interesting, I am looking forward to reading his opinion on the subject.

I very much recomend American Sniper even if you don't think he could add much to the story of the other guns, in fact that book just might make you decide to read the other one.
