I miss seeing Slye's artwork in leather. Lots of notion there. I was looking through my notes and pictures and discovered a picture of the back of a holster. I never noticed it before but it solves a big problem. Holster makers for the fast guys and others put some kind of tensioning device to keep the holster in place so it will not slide on the belt. I know I have to have my holsters in the exact spot or it will cause me problems. I realized that Slye's approach is really neat. Agree?

Red,

I too like his ideas and designs.  I had never seen that picture.  That does solve the problem of the holster riding up while drawing your pistol.  I am wondering if all the cutting of the leather just below the belt is necessary.  I think keeping it just a little under what the main holster shape is would make it more stable on the hip.
I think I might try one soon.

I would not think so, JD. Personal preference. I am a minimalist when it comes to holsters. I prefer not to see any of the back flap from a profile. Not period. Just preference. But I am going to try the slot. I believe I will bring the slots over the front fold just a tad. Holster would fit on the belt better. I think.

I don't like the undercutting either,  but it would be different if one could handle it.  That design does seem useful but I think it would be very dependent on the way the belt weight and holster weight pared up.  I hope Slye gets back to posting here, and shows us the new designs mentioned.  Slye posts were the most detained and the work and photos top notch.

I am just moulding  a new speed holster that will definitely take a bite on the belt.  It will work with any size and width of belt, and be modular.  Unfortunately, I am supposed to be leaving for the summer tomorrow so it may have to wait till fall.  I'm excited about it, but some screws are involved, though they don't show.  I'm hoping it will look the part.  I don't want to see the holsters go too IPSC.
